Actors Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda recently showcased their close bond during an event for Rashmika’s film, The Girlfriend. Despite remaining private about their engagement, Vijay’s affectionate gestures, such as kissing her hand, captured the attention of fans and media alike. Rashmika has also been candid about her past relationships, sharing insights about feeling trapped in one where she felt she had ‘no choice.’
In a promotional discussion with anchor Suma, Rashmika reflected on her character, Bhooma, from the film and mentioned that individuals like her character exist in real life. She emphasized the importance of choosing one’s partner freely, recalling her experience in a relationship that felt obligatory. “You shouldn’t be in a position where you have no choice but to be with a partner. Today, I am happy when I choose to be with someone who respects that choice,” Rashmika stated.
While promoting The Girlfriend, Rashmika expressed gratitude towards Vijay for his support during personal challenges. She described how he played a role in helping her heal from past pain that was not a result of his actions. This was an emotional revelation for her, highlighting the therapeutic effect of their collaborative work on the film. She acknowledged, “Luckily, I have a partner who has healed me from a pain he didn’t cause. I must thank him for it.”
Rashmika also touched on the challenges of dealing with online trolling, admitting that she often confides in Vijay about her experiences. He reassures her, encouraging her not to overthink the negativity. “When I mention the trolling, he tells me to not pay attention to it. He insists it doesn’t bother him, and I tend to overthink it,” she explained.
Previously engaged to Kannada actor Rakshit Shetty, Rashmika ended that engagement in 2018. Her on-screen chemistry with Vijay in films like Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade quickly garnered a strong fan following. Although the exact timeline of their relationship remains private, Vijay’s team confirmed their engagement last month, stating that the couple plans to marry in February of next year.
