Omar Abdulrahman, a prominent figure in UAE football, has officially announced his retirement after a distinguished 17-year career. Known affectionately as Amoory, the Al Ain FC legend wrapped up his professional journey while playing for Dubai club Al Wasl last year.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media, the 34-year-old expressed gratitude to his fans and supporters. He reflected on his career, stating, “Today, with love and gratitude, I announce my retirement from football, after a beautiful journey filled with challenges and achievements.” His career, he noted, was built on hard work and unwavering support from his loyal followers.
Abdulrahman also extended his thanks to Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of Al Ain Club, where he made his senior debut during the 2008–09 season. He acknowledged the significant role the club played in his development as a player. “I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to Sheikh Hazza for his trust and support throughout my career,” he wrote.
The former winger, who has played 72 international matches for the UAE, contributed to his national team’s success in the 2015 Asian Cup, where they secured a third-place finish. His impressive playmaking skills were crucial to the team’s achievements during his tenure.
Abdulrahman also recognized Al Hilal Club for the brief time he spent there, expressing his wish to have made a more significant impact. “I had wished to leave a big mark at this club, but this is what Allah has destined,” he remarked, appreciating the experiences he gained there.
In addition to Al Ain and Al Hilal, he thanked other clubs he represented, including Al Jazira, Shabab Al Ahli, and Al Wasl. Each club, he said, holds a unique place in his heart and contributed to his journey. He expressed profound gratitude to the fans who provided unwavering support, saying, “Your love and encouragement were the secret behind my persistence and performance.”
