India has officially announced its ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against South Africa, set to commence on November 30. This announcement comes amidst significant changes within the team’s leadership.
Due to an injury sustained in the first Test in Kolkata, newly appointed ODI captain Shubman Gill will be sidelined for the series. As a result, KL Rahul has stepped up to lead the team. Rahul previously captained India in ODIs during a successful series against South Africa in 2023, where he secured a 2-1 victory.
Adding to the team’s challenges, vice-captain Shreyas Iyer remains unavailable as he continues his rehabilitation from an injury incurred during the Australia tour. This series will bring its own set of hurdles for the Indian side.
The first match of the series will take place in Ranchi on November 30. The second match is scheduled for December 3 in Raipur, and the series will conclude with the third game in Visakhapatnam on December 6.
The squad selected for the ODI series includes notable players such as Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, and Rishabh Pant, who has been included as a wicketkeeper. The full squad is as follows: Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Tilak Varma, KL Rahul (C) (wk), Rishabh Pant (wk), Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harshit Rana, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Prasidh Krishna, Arshdeep Singh, and Dhruv Jurel.
With the recent adjustments in leadership, the Indian team will aim to adapt quickly and perform effectively in the series against South Africa.
