Sameer Wankhede Claims Aryan Khan’s Film Portrays Him as a ‘Thief’

Sameer Wankhede, a former officer of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), has expressed his discontent following the release of Aryan Khan’s show, “The Ba***ds of Bollywood.” During a recent court hearing regarding his defamation case, Wankhede questioned whether he deserved to face public ridicule because of the show’s portrayal of a character resembling him.

Wankhede alleges that the series has invited mockery and scorn towards him on social media. His legal representatives referenced harsh comments from critics, including a notorious tweet from Kamaal R. Khan, asserting that the show has led many to regard him as lacking integrity. This public perception has been damaging to Wankhede’s reputation, as he emphasized during the proceedings.

The ongoing court case has seen back-and-forth arguments regarding the accountability of the show’s creators. While the defendants maintain that the allegations related to investigations by the CBI and ED do not stem from their work, Wankhede’s counsel contends that both Netflix and Red Chillies Entertainment share a degree of responsibility for the negative portrayal.

Historically, Wankhede gained notoriety after leading the arrest of Aryan Khan in 2021, a case that later saw all charges dismissed against the young Khan. Now, the character in “The Ba***ds of Bollywood,” depicted as a plain-clothed cop battling drug trafficking, reportedly bears a striking resemblance to Wankhede, inciting further controversy.

In his legal claim, Wankhede seeks not only financial compensation for defamation but also an order to remove sequences featuring the problematic character from the show. “The Ba***ds of Bollywood” continues to stream on Netflix, sparking considerable discussion about its portrayal of real-life events and individuals. The outcome of Wankhede’s case against the production company and streaming service remains to be seen, as the legal battle unfolds.
