Rajinikanth: Acting Is My Eternal Calling in Every Life

Superstar Rajinikanth recently reflected on his illustrious five-decade career in cinema, stating that it feels like just “10 to 15 years” have passed. The 74-year-old actor expressed a deep passion for acting, affirming that he would choose this path in “every lifetime.”

Recognized as one of India’s most influential cinematic figures, Rajinikanth was honored for his remarkable contribution to Indian cinema during the closing ceremony of the 56th International Film Festival of India. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant presented him with a shawl and a memento in recognition of his achievements.

Reflecting on his journey, Rajinikanth emphasized his love for cinema, stating, “If I look back, it seems like I’ve just been around for 10 to 15 years.” He further expressed gratitude for the support he has received over the years, saying, “All this honour goes to the cinema industry, producers, directors, technicians, distributors, and exhibitors.”

Known affectionately as Thalaivar, Rajinikanth has captivated audiences with his unique style and performances that have spanned generations. He made his acting debut in the 1975 film “Apoorva Ragangal” and has since starred in iconic films such as “Thalapathi,” “Baasha,” “Mullum Malarum,” “Enthiran,” “Kabali,” and most recently, “Jailer.”

The celebration of Rajinikanth’s 50-year journey coincided with the screening of his daughter Aishwarya’s directorial debut, “Lal Salaam,” at the festival. The film follows the story of aspiring cricketers who face unfair obstacles, with Rajinikanth appearing in an extended cameo.

Dignitaries including Dr. L. Murugan, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, and actor Ranveer Singh were present during the ceremony. Looking ahead, Rajinikanth is set to star in “Jailer 2,” slated for release in June 2026, alongside an untitled project with fellow industry legend Kamal Haasan.

Rajinikanth’s lasting impact on Indian cinema and his dedication continue to inspire both audiences and aspiring filmmakers alike.
