Rebel Wilson Discusses Legal Battles Over Sexual Harassment Allegations

Rebel Wilson has gained fame as a comedic actress, recognized for her roles in films such as Isn’t It Romantic, The Hustle, and How to Be Single. Beyond acting, she has ventured into directing, making her debut with the Australian musical film The Deb. While this film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2024, its official release date remains uncertain due to ongoing legal issues surrounding its production. Wilson’s challenges include a lawsuit filed by actress Charlotte MacInnes, who is linked to the film. On November 23, 2025, Wilson provided insights into her perspective during an interview.

During the 60 Minutes Australia segment, Wilson addressed the alleged sexual harassment incident involving producer Amanda Ghost, which she claims occurred while directing The Deb. She expressed that her duty as a director compelled her to report the incident, but she experienced retaliation afterward. “The moment I did, [it] started all the kind of retaliation against me,” Wilson remarked about her decision to raise the issue.

MacInnes has categorically denied any allegations of sexual assault, asserting through legal representatives that she never faced harassment during filming. Her team has alleged that Wilson has propagated false accusations, demanding a correction or an apology within 28 days. In a statement, MacInnes emphasized, “There is no truth to the allegations made involving me,” highlighting the danger of false claims on genuine victims.

In the same interview, Wilson claimed that MacInnes had informed her about feeling uncomfortable due to Amanda Ghost’s request to share a bath. When pressed for specific comments made by MacInnes, Wilson responded, “She told me she was uncomfortable, yeah.” Reflecting on the dispute, Wilson considered the legal turmoil excessive, stating, “I think it’s wild it’s gotten to this point… I had an ethical, moral responsibility to do that.”

The situation escalated further when details emerged about Ghost’s medical emergency during production, which sought the assistance of both MacInnes and an assistant. Wilson expressed skepticism regarding the credibility of the explanation, stating, “I think, when it gets into the details in court, I don’t think anyone in their right mind believes that a medical incident occurred.”

As this legal battle unfolds, both parties remain firm in their stances. The entertainment community continues to watch closely as Wilson’s journey as both an actress and director intersects with significant allegations and consequences.
