Bulls Clinch Abu Dhabi T10 Title with Stunning Victory Over Stallions

The Delhi High Court is currently considering a petition from the family of Late Major Mohit Sharma, a recipient of the Ashoka Chakra and Sena Medal. They are seeking to halt the release of “Dhurandhar,” an upcoming film featuring Ranveer Singh, citing concerns over the depiction of Major Sharma’s life and military operations.

The Sharma family claims that the film draws heavily from the experiences and heroism of Major Sharma without the necessary permissions. They argue that despite media speculation linking “Dhurandhar” to his story, the filmmakers have failed to consult them or acknowledge the sources of inspiration for the narrative. The family emphasizes that a martyr is not a commodity for commercial exploitation, asserting that any portrayal must respect the truth and dignity of the soldier’s legacy.

Moreover, the petition raises significant national security issues. It alleges that the film may showcase sensitive military tactics and operations without appropriate clearance from military authorities, such as the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI). This is critical as these regulations ensure that military portrayals in entertainment adhere to established guidelines.

Named in the petition are several parties, including the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the film’s director Aditya Dhar, and producer Jio Studios. The family has requested the Court to not only prevent the film’s release but also to mandate a private screening for them ahead of any public showings. They hope for a broader ruling that would require filmmakers to secure authorization from both the military and the families of real-life military personnel depicted in films.

Legal representation for the Sharma family is provided by advocates from Samaanta Law Firm. The case is expected to be heard in the coming week, highlighting ongoing legal discourse over the rights of military families in matters of media portrayal.

“Dhurandhar,” directed by Aditya Dhar—known for the acclaimed film “Uri: The Surgical Strike”—is anticipated to be a high-octane action drama centered on covert military operations. While specifics about the plot remain unconfirmed, early reports suggest a narrative rich in action and national security themes. The film features an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, and Arjun Rampal, making it one of the most awaited releases in the upcoming film slate.
