Quetta Clinches Qualifier 1 Spot in Abu Dhabi T10 with Exciting Victory

Quetta Qavalry has solidified its position for Qualifier 1 with an exhilarating Super Over victory against Vista Riders, remaining atop the 2025 Abu Dhabi T10 table. This dramatic finish underlines the team’s competitive edge as the tournament progresses.

In a noteworthy match, Aspin Stallions moved to second place after securing a confident six-wicket win against the UAE Bulls. With a total of 121 runs for four wickets, the Stallions showcased their batting prowess, putting significant pressure on their opponents, who managed 119 runs for five wickets.

Royal Champs also celebrated their first win of the season by defeating Northern Warriors. Achieving 81 runs for three wickets, they successfully chased down the Warriors’ total of 80 runs for five wickets, highlighting their growth in the tournament.

Muhammad Waseem’s explosive 41 not out off just 14 balls played a critical role for Quetta, along with Liam Livingstone’s pivotal six in the Super Over. In comparison, Vista Riders relied heavily on Ben McDermott’s strong performance, who struck 44 runs off 27 balls to keep their hopes alive in a nail-biting contest.

Quetta began their innings with Andries Gous, who contributed 23 runs off 16 balls before he was dismissed by Dwaine Pretorius. The team continued to build momentum, led by Evin Lewis, who also found the boundary a few times, pushing the score to 52 for one by the halfway stage of their innings.

Waseem then took over, delivering a series of four and six runs in a breathtaking finish, while receiving brief assistance from teammates Liam Livingstone, Khwaja Nafay, and Fabian Allen. His efforts elevated Quetta’s total to a competitive 104 for five.

In response, Faf du Plessis initiated with a six off Ali Majid but lost his wicket shortly after. McDermott and Unmukt Chand then focused on stabilizing the innings until Chand was dismissed by Abbas Afridi in the fourth over. McDermott’s commendable performance kept the Riders within striking distance, making 44 runs off 27 balls.

As the innings progressed, Sean Dickson added valuable runs with 17 off 11 balls before having to retire due to injury, leaving McDermott and the lower order to attempt a challenging finish. A crucial moment arrived when Livingstone executed a remarkable diving catch, sending McDermott back to the pavilion at a pivotal moment in the game.

With 16 runs needed from the final over, Matthew Forde and CP Rizwan held their composure, combining well to bring the match into a Super Over with some crucial boundaries.

In the Super Over, the Vista Riders posted a total of 12 runs, initiated by McDermott’s boundary shot. Quetta’s response commenced with a four from Waseem, but soon after, Nafay was dismissed attempting a big shot. Livingstone then delivered a remarkable six over square leg, ensuring Quetta’s thrilling victory and reinforcing their top position in the standings.
