Mona Singh Reflects on TV Actors’ Personal Lives and Her Career Shift

Mona Singh, who first gained fame on television two decades ago, has decided to step away from the medium that launched her career. In a recent interview, she shared her thoughts on why she has no intention of returning to TV.

Reflecting on her career, Mona highlighted the differences between television and OTT platforms. She noted the appeal of working on a web show for a few months, which allows for a break and enables actors to engage in new characters. The demanding schedules of television, particularly for lead roles, contributed to her decision. She remarked on the grueling nature of daily television programming, questioning how contemporary actors manage to maintain any semblance of a personal life amidst such hectic timelines.

Mona Singh shot to stardom with the iconic series “Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin” in 2003, but it’s been nearly ten years since she last appeared on TV. She expressed her respect for the medium but indicated that she feels she has accomplished everything possible in that space, including daily soaps, reality shows, and hosting events. This shift toward other formats has been a deliberate choice for her, aimed at seeking more fulfilling roles. Although the transition was challenging and time-consuming, Mona is pleased with her current trajectory, balancing both films and OTT projects.

Her foray into films began with her supporting role in the acclaimed movie “3 Idiots” in 2009. Since then, she has appeared in a variety of films, including “Amavas,” “Laal Singh Chaddha,” and “Munjya.” Looking ahead, she will star in “Border 2,” which features a strong lineup including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. The film is set for a theatrical release on January 25, aligned with India’s Republic Day celebrations.
