Emotional Tribute to Dharmendra Promised by Makers of Apne 2

Reports suggesting that “Apne 2” had been shelved left fans of Dharmendra disheartened. However, producer Deepak Mukut has clarified that the film is progressing and will serve as a moving tribute to the iconic actor.

The original “Apne,” which starred Dharmendra alongside his sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, has gained renewed attention since the actor’s passing. The sequel carries significant emotional weight as the team aims to honor Dharmendra’s legacy and continue the familial themes established in the first film.

In a statement, Mukut urged the public to refrain from spreading unfounded rumors, asserting, “People need to stop spreading unverified rumours. Apne 2 is NOT shelved. This film is happening, and it is happening with full conviction.” He emphasized that the project is ongoing and holds profound meaning for them, dispelling any concerns about its viability.

Mukut further conveyed the deep connection they have with Dharmendra’s legacy, stating, “Apne belonged to Dharamji. His presence, his warmth, his soul, everything he stood for, made that film what it became. Apne 2 is extremely close to my heart.” He characterized the sequel as a “shradhanjali,” or heartfelt homage, aimed at celebrating Dharmendra’s values and the emotional atmosphere he created with his family on screen.

The sequel, which will feature original stars Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, and Karan Deol, has undergone some creative restructuring since its initial announcement. The first installment, released in 2007, deeply resonated with audiences, establishing strong emotional ties that the team hopes to continue in the follow-up.

Dharmendra’s passing on November 24 marked the end of an era in Indian cinema, leaving a lasting impact on both his fans and the film industry. Many colleagues and admirers attended his final rites to pay their respects. Notably, on November 27, actress Hema Malini shared memorable moments on social media, reflecting the profound admiration felt for the beloved actor.
