Anukalp Goswami Reflects on Dream Collaboration with Asrani

Veteran actor and comedian Asrani, renowned for his unforgettable performances, passed away in October at the age of 84 after battling a prolonged illness. His death has left a significant void in the hearts of fans and colleagues alike. However, his legacy continues, especially with the upcoming release of “Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2,” which features Kapil Sharma in the lead role.

“Asrani ji’s legacy is one that will keep audiences smiling for years to come,” said director Anukalp Goswami in a recent interview. He described working with Asrani as a highlight of his career, marked by personal admiration and memorable interactions during filming. The film now holds emotional significance, providing a final opportunity for fans to see the beloved actor in action.

Reflecting on their time together, Anukalp shared a touching memory from the film’s narration. He recounted how he grew up mimicking Asrani’s iconic dialogues, particularly from “Sholay.” During a script reading, he began to imitate Asrani’s style, prompting a warm exchange between the two. “He looked at me and smiled, then encouraged me to continue,” Anukalp recalled, emphasizing Asrani’s kind and supportive demeanor.

Asrani remained one of India’s most cherished comic actors, with a career spanning over five decades. He died in Mumbai, and his last rites were conducted at Santacruz Crematorium. He is survived by his wife, sister, and nephew. Aside from “Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2,” Asrani is also set to appear posthumously in “Ikkis,” directed by Sriram Raghavan.

“Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2,” which Anukalp Goswami both wrote and directed, features a talented ensemble cast alongside Kapil Sharma, including Hira Warina, Parul Gulati, Ayesha Khan, Manjot Singh, Tridha Choudhury, Vipin Sharma, Sushant Singh, and Akhilendra Mishra. The film is scheduled for release in theaters on December 12, offering fans another chance to celebrate Asrani’s remarkable contributions to Indian cinema.
