Tragic Loss: Tekashi 6ix9ine’s Girlfriend Ariela Passed Away Months Prior

Tekashi 6ix9ine, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, is making headlines again, but not for his music career. Recently, he faced legal repercussions after violating terms of his supervised release. A judge in Manhattan has mandated a further period of detention, prompting questions and curiosity from fans regarding the circumstances surrounding his current issues, especially in relation to his late girlfriend.

Ariela Mejia-Polanco, also known as Ariela La Langosta, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 33, just months before 6ix9ine’s recent troubles began. She was a Dominican influencer, model, and bartender based in New York City, and she had a notable online presence with over 550,000 followers on Instagram. Ariela was featured as a dancer in the rapper’s music video for the song “Wapae.” Tragically, her life was cut short due to gunshot wounds on August 17, 2025. Her body was discovered in her Mercedes SUV, raising alarming questions about the circumstances of her death.

The investigation into Ariela’s death is being approached as a probable homicide by the Westchester County Police Department, supported by various local and federal agencies. Officials have deemed the incident a targeted act, which implies that she was not randomly attacked. However, no suspects have been publicly identified thus far, and the investigation remains open. Following her tragic death, Tekashi 6ix9ine honored her memory by paying tribute to her on social media, describing her as an “amazing woman.”

In the aftermath of Ariela’s death, speculations arose regarding a potential link between her murder and 6ix9ine’s tumultuous past, particularly his cooperation with law enforcement which led to the prosecution of members of his former gang, the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods. However, these theories have yet to be substantiated by law enforcement.

In addition to the developments concerning his girlfriend, Tekashi 6ix9ine has recently been sentenced to an additional three months in prison on top of an extension of his supervised release. His violations stem from a 2019 racketeering conviction and were compounded by a series of breaches of the terms set by the court. The case, overseen by U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer, highlighted 6ix9ine’s blatant disregard for the rules, resulting in sentencing that includes 45 days in prison followed by a year of extended supervision.

The rapper’s infractions included missed drug tests and testing positive for methamphetamine. Notably, he traveled to Las Vegas and Sarasota, Florida, without obtaining the required permissions from his probation officer. Additionally, he pleaded guilty to drug possession charges following a raid on his residence in Miami earlier that year, where cocaine and MDMA were discovered. Furthermore, an incident where he assaulted a man at a Florida mall added to the myriad of legal troubles he faces.

The judge pointed towards 6ix9ine’s “serial pattern of violating supervised release” as justification for the harsh sentence and reiterated that the law applies equally to him, irrespective of his celebrity status.

As the situation continues to unfold, the connection between Tekashi 6ix9ine’s legal issues and the unfortunate death of his girlfriend remains a topic of intense speculation. Observers are keen to see how these intertwined narratives will develop in the coming weeks.
