Filmmaker Karan Johar has expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with actor Kartik Aaryan on the upcoming film “Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri.” The project marks a new chapter for the two, following previous tensions regarding their work on “Dostana 2.”
Despite initial disagreements that led to recasting plans for “Dostana 2,” Johar and Aaryan have seemingly reconciled their differences. The new film, which also stars Ananya Panday, is directed by Sameer Vidwans, known for his work on “Satyaprem Ki Katha.” At the trailer launch, Johar referred to this collaboration as the “beginning of a new ‘Dostana’,” linking it to the shelved film.
Both Johar and Aaryan expressed their satisfaction with completing the project, which they hope will be well-received. Aaryan noted the significance of finishing a film together, humorously suggesting they could have retained the title “Dostana 2” if it hadn’t been a mouthful. Johar added a playful comment about the mix of insider and outsider dynamics within the film industry, highlighting the collaborative spirit of the project.
Recognizing Ananya Panday’s growth as an actor, Johar expressed admiration for her talent and commitment. He also spoke highly of Aaryan’s dedication to the film, describing him as humble and involved across various aspects of production, including support for marketing and direction.
In a light-hearted moment, Johar joked about Aaryan’s commitment, questioning when the actor sleeps, given his late-night calls. Johar’s own work ethic led him to sometimes tune out from these communications.
Reflecting on the current film landscape, Johar admitted feeling “deeply depressed” by the decline in romantic films, which he considers fundamental to his career. He reminisced about the golden age of Hindi cinema, where love stories dominated the narrative landscape, and expressed a desire for the revival of this genre.
“Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri” is scheduled for release on December 25, marking what may be a significant milestone for both Johar and Aaryan.
