FIFA has recently announced the introduction of a new ticketing category for the upcoming 2026 World Cup, aimed at making attendance more accessible for fans. The “Supporter Entry Tier” tickets, priced at $60, are part of an effort to ensure that a wider audience can enjoy the tournament.
These discounted tickets will be available for all 104 matches, including the highly anticipated final. According to FIFA, this new category will comprise 10% of the total ticket allocations given to Participating Member Associations (PMAs). Each PMA, which represents national teams in the competition, will manage the distribution of these tickets.
In an effort to prioritize dedicated fans, PMAs will determine their own criteria for allocating tickets, ensuring that those with a strong connection to their teams have the first opportunity. FIFA’s recent statement highlighted that half of each PMA’s ticket allocation will be set aside for affordable categories—40% for the Supporter Value Tier and 10% for the Supporter Entry Tier.
The remaining tickets will be divided evenly between the Supporter Standard Tier and the Supporter Premier Tier. Fans who purchase tickets through their national association and whose teams are eliminated before the knockout phase will have their administrative fees waived when requesting a refund.
This move comes in response to rising concerns about ticket pricing. With the tournament scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19 across Canada, Mexico, and the United States, many supporters have expressed worries over the affordability of attending matches. Recently, Football Supporters Europe (FSE) criticized FIFA for what they termed “extortionate” ticket prices, which could alienate many average fans from the event.
Despite these concerns, interest in the ticket sales remains high. The third phase of the ticketing process opened on December 11 and will continue until January 13, buoyed by the announcement of match schedules, venues, and kick-off times.
