Kundu’s Stellar Performance Leads India to Dominant 315-Run Victory Over Malaysia

Deepesh Devendran’s exceptional five-wicket haul and Abhigyan Kundu’s record-breaking double century propelled India to a commanding victory over Malaysia in the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025 held in Dubai. This win adds to India’s impressive performance in the tournament, maintaining their unbeaten streak.

India’s Under-19 team has now secured three victories in as many matches, successfully qualifying for the semifinals. In a parallel match, Pakistan also advanced, defeating the UAE by 70 runs, finishing with a score of 241/9 against UAE’s 171 all out.

Kundu’s remarkable innings saw him score an astonishing 209 runs, guiding India to a formidable total of 408/7 in their allotted 50 overs. Winning the toss, Malaysia opted to field first, but Kundu’s outstanding performance overshadowed their strategy, marking him as the first Indian player and only the second globally to achieve a double century in a Youth ODI.

With the previous record of 177 not out set by Ambati Rayudu now surpassed, Kundu’s achievements have become significant milestones in Under-19 cricket. The target of 409 proved insurmountable for the Malaysian team, which collapsed for just 93 runs in 32.1 overs, falling well short of the mark.
