Dubai Basketball Shocks Bayern Munich at the Coca-Cola Arena

Dubai Basketball showcased their resilience in the EuroLeague, securing an exhilarating 89-88 victory at Coca-Cola Arena during Round 15. The win highlighted their capacity for executing crucial plays in high-pressure moments.

Initially, the team struggled to establish a rhythm and faced challenges in their perimeter shooting, which allowed the opposition to take a commanding lead. At one point, they trailed by 12 points in the fourth quarter, yet remained composed, leveraging their depth to stay competitive.

The decisive moment came late in the game when Dubai Basketball found their shooting touch. American guard McKinley Wright and Awudu Abass led the charge from beyond the arc, energizing the home crowd of 5,000 and significantly narrowing the point gap.

As the game neared its conclusion, the visitors regained a temporary lead. However, the home team exhibited remarkable determination and refused to lose control of the game, pushing for a decisive finish.

Head Coach Jurica Golemac reflected on the match, stating, “This was a very important victory, for the game where we refused to give up. I think everybody in the Arena thought that we could not win this game, but we found guys who were really fighting, giving everything for each other and for the club. In the end, this effort rewarded us.”

Wright was instrumental in the win, leading the scoresheet with 22 points and seven assists, particularly excelling during critical stretches. Abass contributed 15 points and seven rebounds, while both Filip Petrušev and Mfiondu Kabengele added 12 points each. Justin Anderson and Kosta Kondić rounded out the scoring with 11 points each, reflecting a well-rounded team effort that exemplified Dubai Basketball’s tenacious spirit.
