A standout performance from Khuzaima Tanveer, alongside a solid partnership between Sam Curran and Max Holden, ensured a comfortable chase for the Vipers.

Tanveer set the tone early in the match, delivering an exceptional powerplay with remarkable figures of 4/10, marking the best performance by a UAE bowler in the history of the DP World ILT20. His efforts were instrumental in restricting the Gulf Giants to a total of 157 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted overs. The Vipers’ bowlers maintained pressure throughout, with Tanveer becoming the first player to take four wickets in a powerplay in the tournament’s history.

In reply, Curran and Holden solidified the Vipers’ innings with an unbroken partnership of 123 runs. Their efforts allowed the Desert Vipers to comfortably chase down the target in just 16.5 overs.

Desert Vipers’ captain, Lockie Ferguson, praised Tanveer for his outstanding form throughout the tournament. He noted how the bowler’s rhythm and execution were on point and commended the significant partnership formed between Curran and Holden as vital for their victory.

On the other hand, Gulf Giants’ captain James Vince acknowledged the exceptional performance of Tanveer and recognized their own early struggle in the match. He reflected on the need for the team to reassess their strategies and credited their ability to recover to a total of 157 runs, despite being outplayed from the start.
