The production of “Drishyam 3” has taken a significant turn with the confirmation that actor Jaideep Ahlawat will replace Akshaye Khanna in the film. This change comes just days before filming was set to commence, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding Khanna’s departure.
Producer Kumar Mangat Pathak disclosed in an interview that Khanna’s decision to exit was due to disagreements over his character’s portrayal and expected remuneration. The producer expressed confidence in Ahlawat’s capabilities, stating that he believes Ahlawat is not only a superior actor but also a better individual than Khanna. Pathak recalled his early collaboration with Ahlawat in the film “Aakrosh,” highlighting their professional relationship.
“Drishyam 3” will continue the story of Ajay Devgn’s character, who is determined to protect his family following a homicide in their home. Established cast members, including Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, and Tabu, are set to reprise their roles, while Khanna’s involvement in the sequel has come to an end. The producer pointed out that Khanna’s departure was influenced by his recent success in the film “Dhurandhar,” which led him to seek higher compensation.
In addition to the casting changes, Pathak indicated plans for legal action against Khanna. He claims to have incurred losses due to Khanna’s withdrawal from the project and has taken initial steps by sending a legal notice, awaiting a response.
Filming for “Drishyam 3” is now underway, with its release scheduled for October 2, 2026. The project, directed by Abhishek Pathak, aims to maintain the franchise’s reputation and engage its audience with another compelling narrative. The announcement of filming was accompanied by a promotional video, generating anticipation among fans eager for its debut.
