Record-Breaking Demand: 10 Million Ticket Requests for FIFA World Cup

The excitement surrounding the 2026 World Cup in North America is palpable, with FIFA revealing that over 150 million ticket requests have been made by fans from more than 200 countries. This unprecedented demand has emerged just 15 days into the ticketing phase, which remains open until January 13.

According to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, the response is extraordinary, with 6 to 7 million tickets available for sale and 10 million requests submitted daily. Infantino remarked on the impact of the World Cup, highlighting that this level of interest demonstrates the tournament’s global appeal.

Historically, FIFA has sold a total of 44 million tickets over nearly 100 years of the World Cup’s existence. The current demand is staggering, with two weeks’ worth of requests suggesting that fans could have filled 300 years of World Cups within that timeframe.

The 2026 edition is set to be the first World Cup featuring 48 teams, hosted across 16 cities in the United States, Mexico, and Canada from June 11 to July 19. The largest number of ticket requests has come from fans in the United States, followed by Germany and the United Kingdom.

Infantino also commented on the overwhelming response, describing it as a testament to the global love for football. He expressed enthusiasm about the historical significance of the event, emphasizing the opportunity for a worldwide celebration of unity and sport.

As the current ticket request phase concludes, a draw will be conducted to ensure a fair opportunity for all fans. Those who do not secure tickets initially will have additional chances to purchase seats during subsequent sales phases as more tickets become available.
