Melissa Mae Carlton Reflects on Loss a Year After Mourning Her Daughter

A devastating loss has struck influencer Melissa Mae Carlton, who recently announced the passing of her youngest daughter, Molly, on Christmas Day 2025. The news has left her family and friends in profound shock. In a heartfelt message shared on Instagram, Melissa expressed the disbelief and heartache her family is enduring during this tragic time.

In her post, Melissa found a small ray of comfort in the belief that Molly has reunited with her older sister, who tragically passed away a year earlier. Despite this solace, she openly voiced her fears about the future, stating, “I am scared of what life looks like now for us. I am heartbroken for our children.” This moment in Melissa’s life raises questions about her journey and the support she has garnered from her community.

Melissa Mae Carlton is well-known as a faith-based lifestyle influencer, documenting her experiences with motherhood, grief, and spirituality. Through her social media presence, she has built a supportive community for those navigating similar losses. Melissa once reflected on motherhood, saying, “Motherhood is an eternal calling… No family isn’t touched with disappointment and tragedy.” Her candid storytelling resonates with many, providing hope and encouragement.

Alongside her role as a mother and influencer, Melissa is also a photographer and entrepreneur. She runs a vintage-inspired art and home shop, Linen and Grace, where she shares her passion for aesthetics and creativity. By utilizing platforms like Instagram and Substack, she extends her support to families facing trauma and loss, creating a nurturing space for healing and connection.

Melissa’s family includes her childhood friend and husband, Tom Carlton. They celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary in November 2025 and have four children: Lily, Harry, Abigail, and Molly. Tragically, they also experienced the loss of their daughter Abigail, who passed away unexpectedly in April 2024 at the young age of nine. Melissa cherishes her eldest daughter, Lily, referring to her as the “first joy” in her life.

Their son Harry has been deeply influenced by their church community, especially following his baptism. Melissa affectionately described Molly as their “light,” highlighting the joy each of her children brought to their lives. In the wake of these tragedies, Melissa has received tremendous support from her followers and church community, enveloping her family in love, prayer, and strength.

Following the death of her daughters, Melissa provided insight into the medical circumstances surrounding their conditions. She shared that doctors suspect Molly had a genetic heart condition, which is believed to have also affected Abigail. While Molly’s condition was diagnosed after her hospitalization, Abigail passed away too suddenly for a formal diagnosis. Initially, Abigail exhibited symptoms of sepsis, but it is now suspected that she may have had an undiagnosed heart condition. In light of these tragic losses, the family is undergoing genetic testing to better understand their health risks.

As Melissa continues to navigate her grief, she fosters a sense of community and understanding, allowing others to find solace in shared experiences. In memory of Abigail and Molly, Melissa’s journey is a poignant reminder of the strength found in vulnerability and the importance of support during times of profound sorrow.
