Actor Adivi Sesh has shared his deep appreciation for the iconic 90’s song “Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast,” which inspired him to secure its rights for his upcoming film, “Dacoit.” The film is scheduled for release on March 19 and is directed by Shaneil Deo, featuring Mrunal Thakur alongside Sesh.
During the film’s teaser development, Sesh emphasized his desire to evoke nostalgia. The song originally comes from the 1994 cult classic film “Mohra.” Reflecting on his childhood, he remarked, “Some songs stay with you forever, and ‘Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast’ is one of those songs for me.” He recalled performing to this track during his first school dance, indicating the significant role it played in his early artistic experiences.
Sesh described feeling an “instinctive pull” to include the song in “Dacoit,” emphasizing that it wasn’t merely a gimmick but rather a heartfelt homage to his younger self, who loved music and performance. He took care to ensure the proper acquisition of the song’s rights, viewing this as essential to honoring both the track’s legacy and his personal memories associated with it.
The storyline of “Dacoit” revolves around an angry convict seeking revenge against his ex-girlfriend who betrayed him. The film will be available in both Hindi and Telugu, and it also features Anurag Kashyap in a supporting role. It is produced by Supriya Yarlagadda, co-produced by Suniel Narang, and presented by Annapurna Studios.
