Dhurandhar, the latest spy thriller directed by Aditya Dhar, has achieved impressive milestones in its box office run. Just a day after becoming the fifth-highest-grossing Indian film of all time, it made significant waves in the international market, positioning itself within the top 15 highest-grossing Indian films overseas, despite not being released in the lucrative Middle Eastern market.
As the film reached its 32nd day in theaters, it experienced its first substantial drop in box office collections. Following a month of strong performance, Dhurandhar saw a decline of 65% in the domestic market and over 60% internationally on what marked its fifth Monday. This decline resulted in its single-day global earnings falling below ₹10 crore for the first time since its debut.
Nonetheless, the film has still managed to accumulate a net total of ₹776.75 crore (₹932 crore gross) in India, according to industry sources. The producers, Jio Studios, assert that Dhurandhar has already exceeded ₹800 crore in net earnings within India, making it the first film from Bollywood to reach this achievement.
Internationally, the film has collected over $31 million, pushing its worldwide gross near ₹1215 crore, putting it on the verge of surpassing the earnings of SS Rajamouli’s blockbuster RRR, which brought in ₹1230 crore. Expectations suggest that Dhurandhar will eclipse this figure by Wednesday.
Moreover, on the recent Monday, the film’s overseas earnings climbed to an impressive $31.3 million. Its distributors claim that this figure could have exceeded $40 million had the film been released in the Middle East. Despite this limitation, it has successfully outperformed previous hits like Sultan, which grossed $29.8 million, and Pushpa 2: The Rule, which earned $31 million in overseas markets.
Dhurandhar features Ranveer Singh in the lead role as Hamza, an Indian operative embedded within Karachi’s gang and terror networks. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film includes notable performances from actors Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and R Madhavan. The sequel to this thriller is expected to be released in March 2026, generating anticipation among fans and audiences alike.
