Cape Verdi Shines Brightly in G2 Carnival Action with Bin Suroor’s Stars

Prabhas’ latest film, The Raja Saab, has officially premiered in theaters worldwide on January 9, 2026. This horror-comedy marks a departure from the actor’s typical roles in high-octane action films or epic dramas, allowing fans to enjoy a more lighthearted and nostalgic performance. Directed by Maruthi, the film has garnered mixed reviews, with a notable number praising Prabhas’ portrayal.

In The Raja Saab, Prabhas takes on dual roles, portraying ‘Raju’, a young man with a rebellious streak and a sharp sense of humor, and ‘Raja Saab’, his older, fictional alter ego. The storyline follows ‘Raju’ as he navigates life with his grandmother, ‘Gangamma’, played by Zarina Wahab, who is suffering from Alzheimer’s. The film explores themes of family, memory, and the supernatural.

The central narrative unfolds when ‘Raju’ learns that ‘Kanakaraju’, the antagonist and his grandmother’s long-lost husband, is alive in Hyderabad. His quest to reunite his grandmother with her husband leads him and his friend ‘Bhairavi’, portrayed by Malavika Mohanan, to a mystical mansion in the Narsapur forest. Here, he discovers the dark truth about his grandfather, who has become a vengeful ghost. The climax features an intense showdown as ‘Raju’ confronts his grandfather’s spirit to save his grandmother.

Aside from the supernatural elements, the film also introduces romantic subplots involving ‘Anitha’, Raju’s childhood sweetheart, and ‘Besse’, a nun who captures his heart amidst the chaos. The emotional and comedic blend offers viewers a unique cinematic experience, coupled with elements of fantasy.

Looking ahead, the digital streaming rights for The Raja Saab have been acquired by JioHotstar. The film is expected to be available in multiple languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. According to reports, its OTT release might occur around late February 2026, about two months after its theatrical launch. However, official confirmation from the production team or streaming service has yet to be announced.

Excitingly, a sequel titled The Raja Saab 2: Circus 1935 has also been confirmed following the film’s release. Director Maruthi indicated that this sequel would not directly follow the first film’s storyline but will feature a new narrative that expands the horror universe introduced in The Raja Saab. Early reports hint at a possible new look for Prabhas in this installment, potentially embodying a Joker-like character.

As anticipation grows for both the streaming release and the sequel, fans are eager to see how the story of The Raja Saab will continue to unfold. This blend of horror, comedy, and fantasy promises a captivating experience that is making waves in the film community.
