Chiranjeevi’s latest film, Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu, is off to a remarkable start at the box office. This action comedy has generated significant revenue, achieving impressive milestones in its first four days of release.
The film capitalized on the Sankranti festive period, grossing ₹19.50 crore on Wednesday and ₹22 crore on Thursday, pushing its total earnings in India to approximately ₹101.85 crore net. In the international markets, it has amassed over $4 million, contributing to a worldwide gross surpassing ₹150 crore. As a result, Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu is poised to rival another major Telugu film, The Raja Saab, which has grossed ₹191 crore but is struggling at the box office amidst negative reviews.
Originally, the release of both films was not seen as a competitive clash, but the unexpected success of Chiranjeevi’s film shifted the dynamics. The Raja Saab had a strong debut with ₹100 crore on its first day but faced a drastic decline in collections thereafter, dropping to single-digit figures shortly after. In contrast, Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu debuted on January 12 and continued its upward trajectory, earning ₹65 crore worldwide on its opening day alone.
Directed by Anil Ravipudi, Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu showcases the signature style of Chiranjeevi while also featuring Nayanthara and a cameo by Daggubati Venkatesh. Released strategically just before the Sankranti holiday, its timing seems to have played a crucial role in its box office success, ensuring that it benefits from the festive season.
As the coming days unfold, Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu appears likely to maintain its momentum and possibly outpace The Raja Saab at the box office, solidifying its position as a major hit in Indian cinema for the year.
