Prabhas’ Raja Saab Struggles at Box Office, Surpasses ₹130 Crore on Day 7

The much-anticipated horror-comedy, Raja Saab, featuring Prabhas, was released in theaters last Friday after multiple delays. Directed by Maruthi, the film opened to mixed reviews, primarily buoyed by the star’s popularity. As it concludes its first week, questions arise about its box office performance.

In its initial week, Raja Saab experienced fluctuations in ticket sales throughout its weekdays. Alarmingly, even during the holiday of Sankranti on Thursday, the film’s earnings did not see significant growth. On its seventh day in theaters, the total collection amounted to ₹5.49 crore, according to the latest data from Sacnilk.

Comparing weekday earnings shows only minimal changes; Wednesday’s collection was slightly better, at ₹5.35 crore. The film had a strong start, with opening-day earnings reaching ₹53.75 crore, marking the highest single-day collection thus far. However, it struggles to achieve double digits on any given day, bringing the total gross for Raja Saab to ₹130.24 crore.

In response to fan concerns about the trailer’s depiction of Prabhas, producers shared that additional scenes showcasing him in an older look were integrated into the film. TG Vishwa Prasad from People’s Media Factory confirmed that a 4-minute segment featuring this altered appearance was delayed due to server issues. After necessary adjustments, the update has been sent to theaters.

Raja Saab centers on a man’s quest to locate his missing grandfather, leading him to uncover unsettling truths about his family’s history. The film features a diverse cast, including Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, Riddhi Kumar, and Zarina Wahab. As the first week of release wraps up, industry observers will be keenly monitoring the film’s performance in the coming days.
