Border 2 has been making headlines with its impressive box office performance following its release. As of its fourth day in theaters, the film has accumulated a substantial ₹177 crore, showcasing a strong reception among audiences, particularly on Republic Day.
The film debuted strongly, earning ₹30 crore on its opening day. It experienced a notable increase on Day 2, pulling in ₹36.5 crore, a rise of over 21% from its first day. By Day 3, the momentum grew even further, with the film generating ₹54.5 crore, marking a remarkable 49% increase compared to Saturday’s figures. On Day 4, despite the regular decline seen during weekdays, Border 2 maintained its stronghold, reportedly earning ₹56 crore nett in India, according to early estimates.
In comparison to recent films, Border 2 has set itself apart by surpassing the opening weekend collections of both Chhaava and Dhurandhar. Chhaava, released last year, garnered ₹121.43 crore, while Dhurandhar, which came out in December 2022, earned ₹106.50 crore. This solid performance indicates Border 2’s successful entry into the market, cementing its status as a multi-starrer war epic.
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 serves as a sequel to the iconic 1997 film Border, originally directed by JP Dutta. The narrative is set during the 1971 India-Pakistan war and broadens the scope of warfare depicted in the original, showcasing the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy in a multi-front battle.
The production of Border 2 is a collaboration between Gulshan Kumar, T-Series, and JP Dutta’s JP Films. The cast includes notable actors such as Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, along with supporting roles by Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, and Medha Rana, all of whom contribute to the film’s ambitious storytelling.
