Unraveling the Reasons Behind Savannah Guthrie’s Painful First Divorce

Dharmendra has been honored posthumously with the Padma Vibhushan, one of India’s highest civilian awards. The recognition acknowledges his significant contributions to the Indian film industry over his extensive career.

Hema Malini, a well-known actress and Dharmendra’s wife, expressed her pride on social media, highlighting the government’s acknowledgment of his impact on cinema. She stated that it was a moment of great pride to see Dharmendra’s achievements formally recognized.

Born Dharmendra Kewal Krishan Deol, the actor began his cinematic journey in 1960 with the film “Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere.” He initially took supporting roles in films like “Bandini” and “Ayee Milan Ki Bela.” His breakthrough came with the 1965 war film “Haqeeqat,” which established him as a leading actor.

Throughout the 1960s to the 1980s, Dharmendra starred in numerous hit films, including classics such as “Sholay,” “Seeta Aur Geeta,” and “Mera Gaon Mera Desh.” His versatility enabled him to dominate the box office during this period. His last film, “Ikkis,” was released in theaters earlier this year, marking a remarkable career that spanned over six decades.

Dharmendra passed away on November 24, last year, at his home in Mumbai, at the age of 89. After a brief hospital stay earlier in the month due to health issues, he returned home for recovery. His funeral took place the following day, with family and friends in attendance.

A prayer meet was organized by his sons, Sunny and Bobby Deol, in Mumbai on November 27, attended by many notable figures from the film industry, including Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. Notably, Hema Malini and her daughters held a separate prayer gathering at their residence on the same day, honoring his memory in their own way.

Dharmendra is survived by two wives. His first marriage to Prakash Kaur, which began in 1954, resulted in four children, including Sunny and Bobby Deol. In 1980, he married Hema Malini, with whom he had two daughters, Esha and Ahana Deol. The legacy of Dharmendra’s storied career and his personal life continues to resonate with fans and loved ones alike.
