Imran Khan is making a long-awaited return to the silver screen in the film “Adhure Hum Adhure Tum.” Originally announced last year, the film was positioned for release on Netflix, though it was noticeably absent from the platform’s recent lineup announcement in Mumbai, leading to speculation about its status.
This upcoming project marks Imran’s first major role in over a decade as a lead actor. Filming concluded more than six months ago, and hopes were high for an announcement about its release late last year or early this year. Although he recently made a brief appearance in Vir Das’ film “Happy Patel,” fans are still eagerly awaiting the debut of “Adhure Hum Adhure Tum.”
Many industry watchers anticipated that the film would be featured in Netflix’s 2026 lineup, announced earlier this week. However, it was missing from the list of 29 titles unveiled during the event, raising further questions about its future.
Reports indicate that the departure of a Netflix executive overseeing the project has left “Adhure Hum Adhure Tum” in limbo. According to a source from the film’s team, the original plan was to release the film on the platform in early 2026. With changes in personnel, the project’s timeline has been disrupted, pushing the potential release to July or August of next year.
Directed by Danish Aslam, who previously collaborated with Imran on the 2010 romantic comedy “Break Ke Baad,” “Adhure Hum Adhure Tum” is characterized as a dysfunctional romantic comedy. In addition to Imran Khan, the film features Bhumi Pednekar and Gurfateh Pirzada in key roles, promising a contemporary storyline filled with humor and emotion.
