Dhurandhar Dominates Global Box Office as Top Non-English Film in 7 Countries

Dhurandhar,” directed by Aditya Dhar, has achieved remarkable success following its theatrical release, and it continues to capture audiences on the OTT platform Netflix. The film debuted on Netflix last month, adding to its accolades.

Since its arrival on the streaming service, “Dhurandhar” has quickly climbed to the top of Netflix’s weekly Top 10 list for non-English films. Within its first week, it garnered an impressive 7.6 million views and accumulated 26.1 million hours of viewing time across seven countries, cementing its status as a popular choice among global audiences. The film has a runtime of 3.26 hours.

Currently, “Dhurandhar” holds the number one spot in Bahrain, India, Mauritius, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. Additionally, it has made appearances in the Top 10 lists of 22 countries. Netflix India highlighted this achievement on its Instagram, stating, “Poori duniya mai toofan aa chuka hai,” which translates to “There is a storm across the globe.”

In addition to “Dhurandhar,” Aanand L Rai’s film “Tere Ishk Mein” is also performing well, leading the charts for non-English films in various regions.

“Dhurandhar” was released in theaters on December 5 and features a star-studded cast, including Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Rakesh Bedi. The film’s narrative is set in the Lyari town of Karachi, an area historically marked by gang violence and turf wars. It centers around covert intelligence operations against a backdrop of real-world geopolitical and terror events, including significant incidents like the Kandahar plane hijack, the 2001 Parliament Attack, and the Mumbai attacks of 26/11. The film is produced by Aditya and his brother Lokesh Dhar under their B62 Studios banner, in collaboration with Jyoti Deshpande from Jio Studios.

A sequel, titled “Dhurandhar: The Revenge,” is scheduled for theatrical release on March 19. The recently unveiled official Hindi teaser hints at a darker and more intense narrative, expanding the film’s espionage-driven universe. The teaser features action-packed sequences that showcase the transformation of Jaskirat Singh Rangi into the spy Hamza Ali Mazari.

Produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, with T-Series handling the music, the sequel will be available in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. Its release is strategically timed to coincide with major celebrations such as Eid, Gudi Padwa, and Ugadi.
