Is Alia Bhatt Set to Star in Abhishek Pathak’s Housewife Alongside Rajkummar Rao

Alia Bhatt is gearing up for a new role following her performances in the spy action film Alpha and the period romance Love & War. The actress will star in Housewife, a relationship drama directed by Abhishek Pathak, known for his work on Drishyam 2.

In this upcoming film, Alia will portray a housewife in a story focused on a married couple. Rajkummar Rao is reportedly in discussions to take on the male lead. Although he has expressed interest, he has not yet signed a contract. If confirmed, this would mark the first collaboration between Alia and Rajkummar.

In addition to her acting duties, Alia will co-produce Housewife under her Eternal Sunshine Productions banner, partnering with Abhishek’s Panorama Studios. Filming is expected to commence in August or September this year, following the completion of Drishyam 3.

Beyond Housewife, Alia is considering various projects for 2027, including a horror-comedy titled Chamunda from Maddock Films. Her immediate release will be Alpha, an action thriller directed by Shiv Rawail where she plays a commanding officer in an elite all-women combat unit, alongside Sharvari Wagh. Set in the YRF Spy Universe, the film also features Bobby Deol.

Alpha was initially scheduled for a Christmas 2025 release but has been rescheduled to April 17, 2026. It may face further delays, with an exact launch date still to be determined. Additionally, Alia will share the screen with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War. Most recently, she appeared alongside Vedang Raina in Vasan Bala’s Jigra.
