Tunisia’s Al Amal Sports Club made a striking entrance in the Arab Women Sports Tournament basketball championship, achieving a resounding 100–54 victory over Bahrain’s Al Hala Club. This match marked the start of the second round of the series.
The Tunisian team established an early advantage, leading 24–11 by the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, they surged ahead with a remarkable 31–5 scoring run, bringing the halftime score to 55–16. Al Amal maintained their dominance in the second half, winning the third quarter 21–14 and the final period ended with both teams scoring 24 points, resulting in a challenging game for Bahrain.
In another matchup, Iraq’s Gaz Al Shamal Club claimed victory against Khorfakkan Women’s Sports Club from the UAE, finishing the game at 81–71. Khorfakkan initially led, narrowly taking the first quarter 21–19. However, Gaz Al Shamal responded effectively, outscoring their opponents 26–17 in the second quarter to gain a 45–38 halftime lead. They continued to extend their advantage in the third quarter and secured their win in the final period.
The day’s events concluded with Sharjah Women’s Sports Club celebrating a 74–49 win over Kuwait’s Al Fatat Sports Club. Sharjah showcased its competitive edge by controlling the tempo and securing wins in the first three quarters (19–16, 21–7, and 22–12). Despite a slight comeback in the fourth quarter, Al Fatat could not overcome the deficit.
The basketball matches at the Arab Women Sports Tournament 2026 will resume on Thursday with three exciting games at Al Batayih Cultural & Sports Club. Kuwait’s Al Fatat Sports Club is set to face Al Amal at noon, followed by the matchup between Bahrain’s Al Hala Club and Khorfakkan at 2:00 PM. The day will wrap up with Jordan’s Al Fuheis Club taking on Sharjah at 4:00 PM.
The tournament runs through February 12 and features 65 teams from 16 Arab countries competing across various sports disciplines. In the fencing component of the tournament, Oman emerged as the leader in the overall medal standings, standing out in the épée, sabre, and foil categories.
The fencing events attracted seven clubs from six nations, including the UAE’s Fujairah Martial Arts Club and Sharjah Women’s Sports Club, Bahrain’s Albusaiteen Sport Club, Saudi Arabia’s Alula Club, Syria’s Damascus Club, Kuwait Fencing Association Academy, and Oman’s Salalah Club.
Oman’s Salalah team triumphed with a total of seven medals, including three gold, two silver, and two bronze, solidifying their impressive performance in the team categories. Following them was Saudi Arabia’s Alula Club, which secured six medals in total, comprising three gold, two silver, and one bronze. The UAE came in third, represented by the Sharjah Women’s Sports Club, earning one silver and three bronze medals. Bahrain’s Albusaiteen Sport Club managed to secure fifth place with one silver and one bronze medal, while the Kuwait Fencing Academy took home two bronze medals.
In team épée, Oman’s Salalah team realized victory with their athletes Salma Al Dighaishi, Ghzal Al Fulaiti, Jana Al Sharji, and Israa Al Siyabi contributing to their gold medal achievement. The AlUla Club claimed the second position, comprised of Fawzya Alkhubiri, Dhay Alamiri, Danah Alqassem, and Ahad Muammar. Meanwhile, Sharjah Women’s Sports Club completed the podium by claiming third place with their team members Fajar Almarzooqi, Zainab Al-Hossany, Lamar Alnahla, and Sheikha Alzaabi.
