New Zealand Advances to Super Eight in T20 World Cup Thanks to Samra’s Century

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj, known for his work on films like Leo and Vikram, is stepping into the acting arena with the upcoming film DC. Directed by Arun Matheswaran, the film’s teaser was released by Sun Pictures on Valentine’s Day, revealing a gripping narrative that has caught the audience’s attention with its intense themes of revenge.

In the teaser, viewers are introduced to three main characters: Sanjana AK as Parvathy, Lokesh Kanagaraj as Devadas, and Wamiqa Gabbi as Chandra. This adaptation of the classic love story Devdas is placed against a backdrop of gang wars and violence, showcasing scenes of brutality, including Lokesh’s character committing violent acts.

Responses to the teaser have been mixed, with some viewers expressing frustration over the heavy reliance on graphic violence. One user remarked on social media that such depictions do not compensate for a lack of emotional depth in storytelling, calling the violent elements “disgusting.” Others echoed similar sentiments, expressing fatigue over the repetitive nature of violent themes in Tamil cinema.

Despite the criticism surrounding the film’s violence, Anirudh’s background score received significant praise. Fans highlighted the music as a standout feature of the teaser, with comments applauding its captivating quality. One viewer noted, “Anirudh cooked again with the score,” suggesting a strong appreciation for the composer’s work.

DC is crafted by director Arun, with the screenplay by Arun Ranjan and dialogues shared between Arun and Franklin Jacob. This film marks Lokesh Kanagaraj’s acting debut, following previous cameo appearances in films such as Master and Singapore Saloon. Lokesh’s recent project as a director was with the film Coolie, which featured notable actors including Rajinikanth.

Looking ahead, Lokesh is set to direct a new action movie featuring Allu Arjun, tentatively titled #AA23, with production slated to start later this year. Wamiqa Gabbi, meanwhile, has had a busy schedule with appearances in several upcoming projects, including G2 and Pati Patni Aur Woh Do.
