Fan’s Devotion to Rajinikanth Raises Eyebrows Before Maha Shivratri

Ahead of Maha Shivratri, a video showcasing a devoted fan of Rajinikanth from Madurai has gained widespread attention online. This fan, Karthik, performed a puja at a temple he constructed in his home, dedicating the ritual to the iconic actor, who is celebrated for his roles in South Indian cinema.

In the video, Karthik is seen performing rituals in front of a poster depicting Rajinikanth as Lord Shiva from the film Uzhaippali. He poured milk over the image, which was adorned with a garland made of 500 vadais, symbolizing Rajinikanth’s 50 years in the film industry. Karthik noted that this was the third consecutive year he had conducted the puja.

Social media reactions to the video have been mixed, with many users expressing their disapproval. Comments range from humorous dismissals to serious critiques, with some users stating that even Rajinikanth himself might disapprove of such fan fervor. The discourse highlights differing opinions on the appropriateness of idolizing film stars in a religious context.

Maha Shivratri, which falls on February 15 this year, is a significant festival dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, representing their divine union and the balance of masculine and feminine energies. It serves as a period of deep spiritual significance for many devotees.

In recent news regarding Rajinikanth’s film career, he was last seen in Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film, released on August 14, received mixed reviews but still proved to be a box office success, grossing over ₹500 crore globally. It narrates the story of Deva, an ex-union leader, and his quest to uncover the truth behind his friend’s mysterious death, leading him to confront a gangster.

Looking ahead, Rajinikanth is set to collaborate with fellow actor Kamal Haasan in the upcoming film Thaiavar 173, now being directed by Cibi Chakaravarthi after Sundar C’s departure from the project. The anticipation for this film is already building within the fan community, eager for another collaboration between these legendary stars.
