Amitabh Bachchan Kicks Off Kalki 2898 AD Sequel with Heartfelt Reunion

Amitabh Bachchan, one of Bollywood’s most beloved stars, typically meets with his fans every Sunday outside his home, but this past weekend, he was unable to do so due to work commitments. Instead, he was busy shooting for the sequel of the film “Kalki 2898 AD” in Hyderabad. On his blog, he shared insights from the set along with some behind-the-scenes images.

In a recent post, Bachchan uploaded photos showcasing the fans who gathered outside his residence, despite him notifying them about his absence. He expressed his surprise at their unwavering dedication in a humorous tone, noting that even a dog had joined the crowd hoping for a glimpse of him.

Apologizing to his fans for missing the meet-and-greet, he shared details about his shooting schedule for “Kalki 2898 AD.” Highlighting his role as Ashwatthama, he also included a heartwarming photo of himself sharing a moment with fellow actor Kamal Haasan, reflecting on their long-awaited reunion after years apart.

Bachchan noted, “But apologies… work first… rest later… meeting the great KAMAL HAASAN… we shall be working together after ages.” His enthusiasm for collaborating with Haasan again is clear, as they last appeared together in “Giraftar.” He assured his fans of his return next Sunday, expressing deep appreciation for their support.

In “Kalki 2898 AD,” Amitabh Bachchan’s performance as Ashwatthama received critical acclaim, with many praising his portrayal as more impactful than that of Prabhas. Although Haasan was part of the first film, their characters did not interact. The sequel marks a significant reunion for the two actors, who last shared the screen over 30 years ago.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, the much-anticipated sequel will see familiar faces return, including Bachchan, Haasan, and Prabhas. However, Deepika Padukone, who had a significant role in the original, will not be reprising her character. The sequel aims to develop the narratives of Ashwatthama and Karna, promising more depth for these prominent figures.

Kamal Haasan has hinted that the sequel will offer a more comprehensive exploration of his character, further amplifying audience interest. The first installment was a major success, grossing ₹1,042 crore globally, setting high expectations for the upcoming release.
