YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia recently reflected on a challenging period in his life while discussing the controversy surrounding the show India’s Got Latent. He referred to the episode as a “kaand” and noted that only a few people, including actor John Abraham, offered their support during that tumultuous time.
In a recent vlog featuring filmmaker Farah Khan, Ranveer revisited this difficult phase, highlighting the impact it had on his work. He expressed that the controversy led to a halt in his podcast, leaving him struggling creatively and professionally. Ranveer articulated his desire to return to work and expressed the toll the incident took on him.
Farah advised Ranveer not to waste a good failure, encouraging him to focus on his future and work hard. In response, Ranveer revealed that John Abraham shared similar words of encouragement, reminding him that such challenges are common in the media industry. He received calls from several other notable figures like Sonu Nigam, Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul, and Yuzvendra Chahal during this period, which helped him cope with the situation.
The incident that sparked the controversy occurred in February last year, when Ranveer, along with fellow creators Ashish Chanchlani and Apoorva Mukhija, participated in Samay Raina’s YouTube show. Comments made by Ranveer regarding parents and sex ignited significant backlash, resulting in multiple FIRs being lodged against him and his co-panelists. Critics accused them of promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit discussions, as the show was available to the general public.
As a result of the backlash, Ranveer was temporarily barred from uploading content to his channel. However, he regained the ability to resume his podcast, The Ranveer Show, following a ruling by the Supreme Court in March. In a subsequent apology video posted on social media, Ranveer acknowledged that his comment was inappropriate and unfunny. He also issued a written apology to the National Commission for Women (NCW) for his remarks made during the show.
