Hema Malini Opens Up About Heartfelt Longing for Dharmendra

It has been three months since the nation mourned the passing of Dharmendra, a beloved actor whose impact extended beyond cinema. His death on November 24, 2025, left a profound void in the lives of his fans and family. Recently, his wife, Hema Malini, reflected on the emotional struggle to accept his loss.

At the recent British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA), Dharmendra was honored during the In Memoriam segment. Hema Malini expressed her gratitude for this tribute, highlighting his global fanbase and the significant mark he left on the world. She recalled, “He was someone whose presence went beyond borders. We didn’t travel together much, but we made films together to spend time.”

In her heartfelt conversation with the media, Hema candidly shared the ongoing difficulty she faces in processing Dharmendra’s absence. She revealed, “I miss him every single minute. I keep asking myself, is he really gone? When will I meet him again?” This pain encapsulates the deep bond they shared throughout their lives together.

Dharmendra’s health had been declining prior to his passing, and he was briefly hospitalized before returning home. Despite the hopes for his recovery, he passed away at the age of 89. His final rites were attended by family and friends at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Mumbai, marking a moment of collective sorrow among those who admired him.

Hema Malini spoke about the challenging final days of Dharmendra’s life. Close family friend Hamad Al Reyami, who visited Hema to offer condolences, reiterated the harsh reality of Dharmendra’s last moments. Hema shared her feelings, stating, “His final days were cruel… Hurtful… and even we can barely bear to see it like that.” This sentiment reflects the grief shared by those close to the late star.

Following Dharmendra’s death, a hurried family gathering took place at the crematorium, where both Hema and her daughter, Esha Deol, paid their respects. In tribute to his legacy, Sunny and Bobby Deol organized a prayer meeting in Mumbai, while Hema held a Gita path ceremony at home. These gatherings exemplify how Dharmendra’s family continues to honor his memory amidst their personal grief.

Hema Malini’s revelations offer a glimpse into the enduring pain of loss experienced by those left behind. The couple’s long-lasting companionship was marked by love and mutual respect, making the journey of healing a complicated process for Hema.
