Actor Mandana Karimi has recently voiced her concerns regarding the escalating tensions in India amid the backdrop of the US-Iran conflict. Following the assassination of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a US-Israel operation, the situation in the Middle East has deteriorated significantly. Mandana, an Iranian native, has taken to social media to clarify her position and the reasons for her recent decision to leave India.
In a recent Instagram reel, Mandana addressed ongoing speculation about her statements from an earlier interview that gained traction online. She expressed her frustration about how snippets of her comments were often taken out of context, transforming her words into sensationalized headlines. To mitigate any misunderstandings, she emphasized the importance of conveying her thoughts clearly.
Mandana stated, “I have been banned from Iran for ten years. I cannot go back to Iran. Yes, I am leaving India; I am moving out of India, but I am not going back to Iran. I am upset at India because for the past few months, I haven’t received support here, and now, with Khamenei’s death, everyone seems to have an opinion. People are visibly mourning for Khamenei, while I am unable to do so myself.”
She elaborated on the challenges she faces, indicating that her safety has been compromised, causing her to limit contact even with close friends. Despite her circumstances, she is determined to raise awareness about the plight of Iranians who continue to suffer amidst increasing violence. “I haven’t been acting in movies for the past six years by my own choice. I have an opinion because I am Iranian. I know what is happening in my country; I was born and raised there,” she asserted.
In her caption, Mandana further clarified, “It should be obvious that I cannot return to Iran right now — there is war, there is danger, and I am banned. This is not complicated. Many prefer not to listen, as listening does not create sensational headlines. What truly matters is the plight of the Iranian people and why this regime must end.”
The US-Iran conflict has intensified following the airstrikes that resulted in mass casualties, including senior members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. In retaliation, Iran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting various Arab nations throughout the region. As part of the mourning period following Khamenei’s death, which is being observed for 40 days, Iran’s military actions have further escalated tensions.
Reports have surfaced detailing significant explosions in Iran’s southern port city of Bandar Abbas, with explosions occurring near strategic military locations. On the same day, loud blasts were reported in eastern Tehran, heightening fears and underscoring the precarious situation. The specific targets remain unclear as conflict continues to unfold.
In light of these developments, Mandana Karimi’s statements provide insight into the complex emotional and political landscape many Iranians are navigating, highlighting the stark contrast between their experiences and those of individuals outside of the conflict’s immediate reach.
