Who Will Cover the Millions Lost from ‘Bachelorette’s’ Snub

Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan and his wife Natasha Dalal stepped into parenthood with the arrival of their daughter, Lara, in 2024. In a recent episode of the podcast “Be A Man, Yaar!”, Varun shared a significant health challenge that their daughter is facing.

At the age of 1.5 years, Lara was diagnosed with Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH). Varun explained that this condition affects the hip joint, causing it to slip out of the socket. As a result, one leg may appear shorter, leading to difficulties in walking or running properly. He emphasized the seriousness of the condition, stating that untreated DDH can lead to early arthritis and other complications.

The actor highlighted the differences in treatment options between India and Western countries, noting that while advanced treatments are available in the West, such resources are not as widespread in India. Despite this, he praised the many skilled doctors in the country who can provide care for this condition. Fortunately, Lara did not require surgery; instead, she underwent a procedure to reposition the hip. This was followed by a challenging recovery period during which she had to wear a spica cast for 2.5 months.

Varun also stressed the importance of parental vigilance regarding children’s physical development. He advised parents to consult pediatricians if they notice any irregularities in their child’s movements in their early years. His intention behind sharing Lara’s story is to raise awareness about DDH, emphasizing that early diagnosis can lead to effective treatment.

Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip is characterized by abnormal formation of the hip joint, which can occur before or after birth. It may affect one or both hips, and Varun’s candid discussion aims to shed light on a condition that many in India may not fully understand.

In addition to their parenting journey, Varun and Natasha’s relationship has blossomed since their wedding in a private ceremony in 2021. The couple welcomed their daughter on June 3rd at a hospital in Mumbai, with Varun sharing the joyous news on social media and expressing gratitude for the well-wishes they received.

Reflecting on his new role as a father, Varun has commented on how becoming a “girl dad” has changed him, noting that he is now more willing to indulge in whatever his daughter desires. His personal experiences and insights into parenting and health challenges are intended to foster broader discussions about children’s health and well-being.
