Meryl Streep Reveals Frightening Fan Reaction During Prada 2 Filming

The highly anticipated sequel to the iconic film “The Devil Wears Prada” is set to hit theaters on May 1. Fans of the original, released in 2006, can look forward to the return of familiar faces, including Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci. Since the production phase, images from the film have generated significant buzz on social media, leading to much excitement among the fan base.

Meryl Streep described the experience of filming the sequel as overwhelming, stating that the attention received was far beyond what they had anticipated. She noted the necessity for police barriers and crowd control, illustrating the intense fanfare surrounding the production. Streep recounted how fans and paparazzi created chaotic situations, mentioning a particularly troublesome incident where photographers disrupted a shot. Despite the challenges, she emphasized the warm reception from fans, although she admitted to feeling unnerved at times.

Anne Hathaway also shared her memories from the shoot, particularly an amusing mishap when her heel broke mid-scene, causing her to stumble. Quickly recovering, she maintained her composure and assured the crew she was fine. However, she later reflected on how aware she was of being photographed during the incident, highlighting the pressures that come with such popularity.

The original “The Devil Wears Prada” was based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel and told the story of a young woman navigating the demanding world of fashion under the strict guidance of Miranda Priestly, played by Streep. The film was a massive commercial success, grossing $326.7 million globally. It received critical acclaim, earning Streep a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Comedy and an Oscar nomination.

The sequel reunites its original cast under the direction of David Frankel and the writing of Aline Brosh McKenna. It will introduce several new characters played by a diverse cast, including Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, and Lucy Liu, among others.

Produced by Wendy Finerman, with executive producers Michael Bederman, Karen Rosenfelt, and Aline Brosh McKenna, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” aims to capture the charm and wit that made the first film a beloved classic. Fans can expect an enchanting blend of nostalgia and fresh narratives when it premieres in theaters in India on May 1.
