Shatrughan Sinha Supports Daughter Sonakshi’s Interfaith Marriage

Veteran actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha recently expressed his heartfelt support for his daughter Sonakshi Sinha’s marriage to Zaheer Iqbal. Describing the couple as “made for each other,” he affirmed that their union is both lawful and based on mutual happiness.

Sonakshi and Zaheer tied the knot in 2024 during an interfaith ceremony under the Special Marriage Act, which facilitates marriages between individuals of different religions without requiring conversion. The wedding attracted considerable attention due to the couple’s celebrity status and the ongoing discussions surrounding interfaith marriages in India.

In a recent interview with News18, Shatrughan addressed queries about the marriage, including his residence named ‘Ramayana’ and the interfaith nature of the union. He confidently dismissed any concerns, emphasizing the happiness of his family.

“Everything is fine. We are very happy. Sonakshi is married; they both seem made for each other,” he stated, highlighting his approval of their compatibility. The actor further stressed the independence of both Sonakshi and Zaheer, asserting that they are capable adults capable of making their own choices. “The children are young, adults. If they are happy, what can anyone else do? I support them wholeheartedly, like a rock,” he added.

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal’s love story began around 2016 when they first met at a party hosted by Salman Khan, who has played a mentoring role in both their careers. Their friendship blossomed over time as they continued to connect within similar social and professional circles. By 2017, they reportedly started dating, though they initially kept their relationship private, maintaining a low profile during the early years.

Public sightings, vacations, and subtle social media interactions gradually sparked speculation about their relationship, although neither confirmed it for a long time. Their bond became more evident after working together in the 2022 film Double XL, where their on-screen chemistry reflected their real-life comfort with each other.

Over the years, Sonakshi and Zaheer cultivated a reputation for their fun-loving and supportive relationship, often sharing lighthearted videos and candid moments on social media. After nearly seven years of dating, their relationship culminated in marriage in 2024, underscoring their long-standing commitment and deep understanding of one another.
