Aditya Dhar’s latest film, “Dhurandhar: The Revenge,” has made headlines by grossing over ₹1,088 crore worldwide within its first week of release. This milestone marks the film as the biggest global blockbuster in Indian cinema history.
The movie, featuring Ranveer Singh in the lead role, has achieved remarkable box office success, with ₹814 crore earned in India and ₹274 crore from international markets. The film’s net earnings in India for the first week reached ₹690 crore, solidifying its strong performance.
In an official statement, the filmmakers highlighted that “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” set various records, achieving all-time high collections each day of its first week. They noted that it surpassed previous benchmarks, making a swift journey to ₹1,000 crore globally and boasting the highest opening weekend as well as the strongest weekday performance for an Indian film.
The film kicked off with a record-breaking opening weekend, amassing ₹761 crore worldwide in just four days. The upward trend continued throughout the week, with significant daily earnings: ₹64 crore on Monday, ₹58 crore on Tuesday, ₹49 crore on Wednesday, and ₹53 crore on Thursday in India.
Additionally, “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” made history as the first Indian film to exceed ₹100 crore in a single day for one language, combining ₹145 crore in paid previews and opening day earnings in India.
Released on March 19, the film is a sequel to Dhar’s 2025 blockbuster. It is available in multiple languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, and features actors such as R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi.
Set against the backdrop of the Lyari neighborhood in Karachi, an area known for gang conflicts, the film follows Singh’s character, Hamza Ali Mazari. It explores his journey in the Karachi underworld while revealing his origins as Jaskirat Singh Rangi, a young man who becomes a covert operative.
