Rohit Sharma Shines in IPL, Proving Experience Still Matters

Actor and filmmaker Samuthirakani recently visited Hyderabad to promote his upcoming film, “Carmeni Selvam,” directed by Ram Chakri. The movie is set to be released in Telugu. During the promotion, Samuthirakani addressed a viral video in which he criticized fellow actor Vijay following Vijay’s public appearance with actress Trisha Krishnan at a wedding in Chennai. The actor stood firm on his remarks, confirming he was aware of being recorded while making those statements.

When questioned about his earlier comments, Samuthirakani initially expressed confusion but quickly encouraged the reporter to speak openly. He clarified that he had shared his thoughts during a painful moment and acknowledged the recording, although he regretted that the initial context of their conversation was not captured on video. He emphasized that he would not shy away from expressing his opinions, regardless of the circumstances.

While discussing his feelings towards Vijay, Samuthirakani highlighted his longstanding support for Vijay’s political aspirations. He conveyed that his recent remarks stemmed from personal disappointment, expressing, “I was one of the first people to support him. That’s what caused me pain.” This sentiment marked the conclusion of the press meeting.

In February, reports surfaced that Vijay’s wife, Sangeeta Sornalingam, had filed for divorce citing infidelity. Speculation about an affair with an unnamed actress was also mentioned, which added to the speculation surrounding his rumored relationship with Trisha Krishnan.

Following Vijay’s appearance at a wedding with Trisha, many, including Samuthirakani and director R Parthiban, voiced their concerns about his public behavior as he prepared to contest in the Tamil Nadu elections with his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). In a video, Samuthirakani questioned the necessity of publicizing personal matters, stating, “So many things are happening, why take it outside? Shouldn’t it be kept within four walls?”

Recently, during an interview with Galatta Tamil, Samuthirakani reiterated his beliefs, asserting that he did not regret his statements. He maintained that he felt no remorse for expressing his thoughts and emphasized that he had not committed a wrongdoing. As anticipation builds for “Carmeni Selvam,” which will hit theaters on April 3, it features an ensemble cast including Gautham Vasudev Menon and Abhinaya.
