Rachel Russey Opens Up About the Realities of Midlife Marriage

In a tragic development, influencer Rachel Tussey passed away at the age of 47 after complications from a tummy tuck surgery. The incident, which reportedly left her in a vegetative state, led to her being declared brain dead in February 2026. Rachel was married to Jeremy Tussey and openly shared about their less-than-perfect marriage on her social media platforms.

Rachel marked her 17th wedding anniversary with Jeremy just 14 weeks ago, reflecting on the journey of their relationship. In an Instagram post, she emphasized that despite the challenges they faced, their bond endured. Her message captured the realities of a long-term marriage, stating, “We’ve had years held together by grit and stubbornness… Years where you look at the person you built a life with and whisper, ‘Please… let us find our way back.’”

In the candid post, Rachel acknowledged the struggles they encountered over the years, sharing how they navigated through midlife marriage challenges. She highlighted recent positive changes in their relationship, mentioning that they managed to travel, create new memories, and rekindle their connection. Rachel’s reflections on the authenticity of middle-aged marriage resonated with many, as she noted, “It’s real and raw and worth fighting for.”

Rachel Tussey was a TikTok influencer from Ohio, and her complications stemmed from a surgery that is popularly known as a mommy makeover. This procedure ultimately left her brain-dead, leading to her life support being discontinued, as confirmed by her husband through a statement on a GoFundMe page set up to assist their family. She was a mother to three children and had been under palliative care following severe brain damage.

Prior to her surgery, Rachel actively documented her experiences on social media, expressing her anticipation for the procedure. She initially felt optimistic, stating that she was in good hands and felt spiritually supported. However, complications arose, leaving her unresponsive post-surgery. Her doctor, Shahryar Tork, expressed his heartbreak regarding the situation, clarifying that the surgery was not performed at his private practice.

As the community mourns Rachel’s passing, her story raises questions and insights about the complexities of marriage and personal health challenges. Her journey serves as a poignant reminder of the unpredictability of life and the importance of addressing relationship dynamics along the way.
