Aditya Dhar’s film “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” has made a significant impact at the box office, crossing the ₹1,000-crore mark in its first week. This achievement places it among the highest-grossing films in Indian cinematic history, second only to Allu Arjun’s “Pushpa 2” in terms of speed to reach this milestone.
Since its release on March 19, “Dhurandhar 2” showcased an explosive start, amassing over ₹100 crore domestically in each of its opening three days. The film’s global total reached ₹750 crore by the end of its opening weekend, marking the second-best debut in Indian cinema. Despite a minor decline in collections for a couple of days, earnings rebounded, resulting in a total of ₹674.14 crore net from domestic markets by Thursday, and it is projected to surpass ₹700 crore soon.
Internationally, the film has also performed remarkably well, grossing over $22 million in its first weekend. After eight days, its overseas collections reached ₹261.92 crore, contributing to a worldwide total of ₹1,067.24 crore. This success has led “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” to surpass the lifetime earnings of notable hits like “Pathaan” and “Kalki 2898 AD,” positioning it on track to challenge other major films like “Jawan” and “KGF: Chapter 2.”
“Dhurandhar: The Revenge” is directed by Aditya Dhar and serves as a sequel to the hit film “Dhurandhar.” The plot follows Ranveer Singh’s character, Hamza, as he navigates the complexities of Pakistan’s political landscape while revealing his origins as Jaskirat Singh Rangi. The film features an ensemble cast that includes R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Rakesh Bedi, and Sanjay Dutt. Positive acclaim has come from various Bollywood luminaries, including SS Rajamouli and Alia Bhatt, highlighting the film’s engaging narrative and performances.
