Deepak Tijori Challenges CBFC’s ‘Half-Muted’ Cuss Word Decision in Film

Filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s latest release, “Dhurandhar: The Revenge,” has quickly gained traction, achieving record-breaking success at the box office. The film has garnered acclaim from both audiences and industry figures. Amidst this excitement, actor Deepak Tijori has raised concerns regarding the Central Board of Film Certification’s (CBFC) approach to muting some of the film’s explicit language, posing questions about the rationale behind this censorship.

On his Instagram account, Tijori expressed bewilderment at the CBFC’s decision to only partially mute certain cuss words in the film. He questioned the logic of such an approach, particularly since “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” has an 18+ certification, indicating it is tailored for adult viewers. The actor emphasized the inconsistency of censoring select words while allowing others to remain audible, wondering who this policy is intended to protect.

He further pointed out the irony of the situation; the film is released in its unedited form on streaming platforms shortly after its theatrical run. This, he argued, poses a risk for younger viewers who might watch the unmuted version at home. Tijori challenged the reasoning behind the CBFC’s decisions, asking whether it is indeed sensible to enforce different standards for cinema versus streaming media.

Reacting to Tijori’s statements, fans flooded the comments section of his post, expressing their agreement. Many voiced their frustrations with the ambiguity and perceived unfairness of the censorship, particularly for a film that is restricted to adult audiences. One commenter remarked on the absurdity of muting words that most viewers inherently understand, while another critiqued the relationship between the CBFC and logical decision-making.

“Dhurandhar: The Revenge” features a star-studded cast, including Ranveer Singh, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sanjay Dutt. The film focuses on the transformation of Singh’s character, Jaskirat Singh Rangi, into the formidable Hamza Ali Mazari, depicting his rise through the ranks to become a key figure in the underworld while on a mission to dismantle a terrorist network in Pakistan.

With over ₹650 crore earned at the domestic box office and more than ₹1000 crore globally, “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” continues to enjoy significant commercial success and remains a popular choice among viewers.
