David’s Incredible Six-Hitting Show Leads Bengaluru to Dominant Victory

Tim David’s explosive performance played a crucial role in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s recent victory over Chennai Super Kings, marking their second win in this IPL season. David scored an impressive 70 runs off just 25 balls, smashing eight sixes, and led his team to a commanding total of 250-3 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Bengaluru’s batting display set a record for the highest score of the tournament so far. After electing to bat first, they built a strong innings, with contributions from Virat Kohli, who scored 28 runs, and Phil Salt, who added 46. Devdutt Padikkal made 50 before Tim David and captain Rajat Patidar accelerated the scoring, with David especially dominant in the final overs.

The Chennai Super Kings struggled in their chase, losing key wickets early on, including their captain Ruturaj Gaikwad for just seven runs. They were all out for 207 runs in 19.4 overs, marking their third consecutive defeat of the season. Bengaluru’s bowling attack was led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who took three wickets. Jacob Duffy, Abhinandan Singh, and Krunal Pandya added to the wicket tally with two each.

David’s power hitting was a standout feature of the match. Notably, one of his sixes off Jamie Overton reached beyond the stadium’s roof. Reflecting on the game, he expressed enjoyment in contributing to the team’s high score and applying pressure on the opposition. The partnership between David and Patidar, which yielded 99 runs off 36 balls, significantly bolstered Bengaluru’s total, with 97 runs being scored in the last five overs alone.

On the opposing side, despite the disappointing loss, Sarfaraz Khan provided a glimmer of hope for Chennai with a brisk 50 runs off 25 balls. Other notable contributions came from Prashant Veer and Jamie Overton, who scored 43 and 37 runs, respectively. Gaikwad acknowledged the spirited efforts of his teammates but noted that a stronger performance from the top order could have made a difference in the chase.

In the earlier match on Sunday, Lucknow Super Giants secured their first win of the season thanks to pace bowler Mohammed Shami, who delivered an impressive 2-9. Under the captaincy of Rishabh Pant, Lucknow chased down 157 runs, sealing the victory with just one ball to spare.
