Dhurandhar 2 Reaches New Heights with ₹674 Crore by Day 8

Aditya Dhar’s latest spy thriller, “Dhurandhar: The Revenge,” is making waves at the box office, continuing its impressive run since its release. Despite the typical weekday drop in earnings, the film has consistently garnered approximately ₹40 crore per day, solidifying its position as the second-highest-grossing Bollywood film in India.

The movie kicked off its journey with a robust collection of ₹43 crore from paid previews, followed by a remarkable opening of ₹102 crore. It maintained momentum with two additional days exceeding ₹100 crore and even recorded the biggest Monday in the history of Indian cinema. After some deceleration, Wednesday saw a 15% dip to around ₹48 crore, bringing the total domestic collection to ₹623 crore.

With the Ram Navami holiday aiding its performance, “Dhurandhar 2” saw a strong revival on Thursday. Morning shows reported an occupancy of 24.62%, climbing to 41.54% in the afternoon and reaching 43.38% by the evening. The film earned an impressive ₹49.70 crore on Thursday, elevating its week-one domestic total to ₹674.17 crore.

This success story includes notable milestones, as on Wednesday, “Dhurandhar 2” surpassed the ₹600-crore mark, joining an exclusive club of just five Bollywood films to do so. By Thursday, it not only outpaced Vicky Kaushal’s “Chhaava” but also eclipsed the total earnings of the horror-comedy “Stree 2” early in the day. By the afternoon, it outperformed Shah Rukh Khan’s blockbuster “Jawan,” which had previously earned ₹643 crore.

Currently, “Dhurandhar 2” trails only behind its predecessor, which set industry records with a staggering ₹895 crore haul in India.

The star ensemble of “Dhurandhar 2” includes Ranveer Singh, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi. Released on March 19, the film’s predecessor had achieved a worldwide gross of ₹1300 crore and remains in cinemas months after its initial release. The sequel is expected to exceed these figures, with many industry analysts speculating it could break “Dangal’s” all-time record of ₹2070 crore.
