Rapper and singer Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, widely known as Badshah, found himself at the center of controversy following the release of his new song, “Tateeree.” As public criticism mounted, he issued an apology and confirmed that the song has been removed from all streaming platforms. The National Commission for Women has since summoned Badshah and the creators of the track in response to allegations of obscenity and vulgarity.
In a recent statement to news agency PTI, Badshah expressed regret for the song and pledged to promote women’s empowerment by sponsoring the education of 50 girls from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. He attended a hearing regarding a suo motu case initiated over “Tateeree,” where he, along with the song’s directors and producer, faced scrutiny. NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar emphasized that the song’s lyrics and presentation were disrespectful to women, highlighting the need for accountability to prevent similar incidents in the future.
During the hearing, all involved parties submitted written apologies to the commission, acknowledging the distress caused by the song. Badshah specifically addressed the NCW, committing to support women’s upliftment and create a positive empowerment anthem within the next four months.
“Tateeree,” a Haryanvi hip-hop single released on March 1, 2026, features Badshah alongside vocalist Simran Jaglan. The lyrics were penned by Badshah, with Hiten in charge of music composition and production. The song blends modern rap with regional musical influences, and its official video was directed by Mahi Sandhu and Joban Sandhu. Following the backlash, Badshah took to Instagram to clarify that he did not mean to offend anyone’s sentiments. The Haryana Police also took measures against the controversial song, removing numerous links from social media platforms.
