In a recent interview, veteran actor Paresh Rawal expressed joy in reuniting with filmmaker Priyadarshan and actor Akshay Kumar for their upcoming film “Bhooth Bangla.” This collaboration marks their first project together in years, rekindling memories of past comedic hits like “Hera Pheri” and “Bhool Bhulaiyaa.”
Rawal described the experience as a welcome return to a positive work environment. He emphasized the benefits of working with friends, stating, “Your journey is very good… This kind of company increases your haemoglobin.” The nostalgic atmosphere was heightened by shooting in Chomu Palace, the same location used in the 2007 film “Bhool Bhulaiyaa.”
The actor also teased the plot of “Bhooth Bangla,” highlighting its unique blend of horror and comedy centered around a wedding with a ghost in attendance. He remarked on the film’s aesthetic, saying it’s “a beautifully shot horror film,” aiming to deliver a fresh take on the genre.
Peering into Priyadarshan’s directorial style, Rawal praised him as a “producer-friendly director” known for his efficiency. He noted, “If he says that he will finish the shoot in 10 days, then the shoot will be over in nine days.” Rawal expressed his satisfaction with the camaraderie on set, reminiscent of their earlier collaborations.
Originally scheduled for release on April 10, “Bhooth Bangla” has been postponed to April 17, a decision made in consideration of other films playing at the box office. Rawal clarified that the delay wasn’t directly due to “Dhurandhar: The Revenge,” but rather a strategic move by the filmmakers.
The actor humorously admitted his disbelief in ghosts, saying, “There must be ghosts, but they haven’t come into my life.” He light-heartedly discussed dealing with difficult people by jokingly chanting the Hanuman Chalisa. Despite the comedy and horror elements in “Bhooth Bangla,” Rawal stressed the importance of treating humor with seriousness in performance.
Looking ahead, Rawal, Kumar, and Priyadarshan are also collaborating on “Hera Pheri 3,” a long-awaited continuation of their beloved franchise. The project faced challenges, including a public fallout last year where Rawal briefly distanced himself over creative disagreements. However, he confirmed the friendship remains intact, stating, “There is no bad blood” and emphasizing that misunderstandings can occur among close collaborators.
With “Bhooth Bangla” on the horizon and the future of “Hera Pheri 3” assured, fans can look forward to more entertaining moments from this talented trio.
