Al Ain has regained the lead in the ADNOC Pro League following a convincing 2-0 victory against Ajman at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium on Sunday. This result propels Al Ain to 53 points, putting them back at the top ahead of Shabab Al Ahli, who are currently in second place with 52 points. Ajman, on the other hand, remains in seventh place with 24 points.
The match started off on a high note for Al Ain, as they scored within just six minutes. Soufian Rahimi found the net after connecting with a cross from Amadu Niang, allowing the hosts to establish an early advantage and dictate the pace of the game.
In response to the early setback, Ajman adopted a more cautious style, but Al Ain’s dominance in both attack and defense was evident throughout the first half. The home side continued to create scoring opportunities while remaining solid at the back.
The second half saw Al Ain maintain their attacking momentum, with Laba Kodjo extending their advantage in the 58th minute. This goal came from another well-executed play, ensuring that Al Ain was well on their way to securing all three points from the match.
Despite Ajman’s efforts to mount a comeback, Al Ain’s control over the match remained unchallenged for the rest of the game, allowing them to comfortably finish with a 2-0 scoreline.
In other league action, Sharjah turned their fortunes around with a 2-1 comeback victory over Al Wasl at Sharjah Stadium. Al Wasl initially took the lead in the 17th minute with a goal from Nicolas Gimenez, who scored from inside the box during a balanced first half.
However, Sharjah came out strong in the second half, equalizing just four minutes after the restart. Ousmane Camara scored with a composed finish, demonstrating their resolve to stay in contention.
The hosts’ push continued, culminating in a winning goal from Khaled Al Dhanhani in the 66th minute, as he headed home from a well-placed cross. Al Wasl struggled to find their rhythm after that, but they sought an equalizer late in the match.
In the dying moments, Sharjah’s defense held firm against Al Wasl’s advances, which included a critical clearance in the 79th minute and a near-miss from Miguel Borja in the 85th minute. Sharjah also created chances on the counter-attack, but Khaled Alsenaani, the Al Wasl goalkeeper, denied a key opportunity shortly after.
The game took a turn for Al Wasl in stoppage time when Majid Surour was shown a second yellow card, leaving them with ten players. Sharjah managed to hold on to their lead and secured a crucial three points from the match.
With this victory, Sharjah moves up to 24 points and sits in eighth place, while Al Wasl remains at 33 points, positioned fifth in the league standings.
